How to take care of yourself as a working mother of a toddler?

It's 5 p.m. Sophie (29) has just finished one more busy day at work and is preparing herself for going back home where her 2 years-old son Lucas is expecting her. During the last two years, Sophie didn't dedicate even one day to take care of herself. Her usual routine includes going to work and taking care of her son. But this afternoon is a different day. While still in a traffic jam, so tired, almost falling asleep, Sophie was struck by a thought. She felt a bizarre urge to spend time on her own needs and desires. When she usually thinks about to cook for Lucas, Sophie now started to think about how she can start to begin a new healthy lifestyle.

The experience of Sophie is a typical example of how some issues may arise when you follow a routine that doesn't benefit you. Balancing motherhood and a healthy lifestyle is a challenge for most women. Nevertheless, it is crucial to set a healthy environment around yourself, which will prove advantageous in the long run. Physical exercises and a balanced nutrition plan contribute to improvements in areas such as body endurance, agility, overall positive mood, etc. Improvements in these areas could influence one's life performance, but they are quite often underestimated and found to be negligible.

Here, at Fit&Feat, we try to increase the awareness of important topics such as this one, while at the same time, the team is trying to provide a service which goes beyond the conventional advice regarding training and nutrition. The company’s mission is, before anything else, to establish a safe and friendly environment for its female customers. Becoming a part of this community, you lay the foundations of your new and better daily routine. But how can Fit&Feat support females who have the intention to make significant lifestyle changes?

A main feature of the platform is a function called "Connect with a buddy".

This option supports you in finding an appropriate buddy for yourself to train together. That could prove to be highly efficient for women like Sophie, who experience work overload and at the same time need to meet the needs of their kids on a daily basis. Having a partner to share time outside the frame of all these duties could be a relief. Also, this person could motivate you to work harder towards your goals and create a valuable friendship.

Moreover, the company organizes workshops on two main topics: Physical exercises and nutrition. Joining such a workshop is a great chance to find yourself among fellows with similar mindset as yours, with whom you can share thoughts and be of use to each other. Additionally, Fit&Feat will support you during your journey while providing all the necessary knowledge you will need to train and eat properly, based on your personal characteristics (body type, height, age, weight) and goals. Our mission is to cope with these issues because we believe the figure of the mother is of great importance for the existence of a healthy family. That is why occupying your time only with work and duties will not work in your favor. On the contrary, you will lack the opportunity to have time for yourself which is essential when mentioning the term "balanced life".

Five days have passed, and Sophie has just arrived home after the first training with her new fitness buddy Luisa. They both are mothers of 2-years old children and share similar issues that have prevented them from taking action up to this moment. After "risking" their already established, daily routine and joining the platform, they were connected in a matter of minutes. During their training, they realized the importance of stepping out of their comfort zone while trying to rely on each other for support. During the last few days, Sophie's mood has improved dramatically, and she has even started working with passion, which was unthinkable just one week ago.

In conclusion, it could be said that people are afraid of doing new things and risk their comfort even if it's not comfortable anymore. Nevertheless, at some point, the desire to take care of yourself outweighs the fear of the unknown.
